About Me

Danny Garner, Deputy Chief of Training and Analytics, began his fire service career with the Covington Fire Department in 2006 as a firefighter on C-Shift. Demonstrating a consistent commitment to professional growth and operational excellence, he progressed through the ranks of Firefighter, Relief Apparatus Operator, Engineer, and Lieutenant before being appointed to his current executive leadership position.

 

Throughout his tenure, Chief Garner has contributed to a variety of specialized units, including the Dive Team and the Emergency Services Unit (ESU). A Nationally Registered Paramedic, he brings a strong clinical foundation to his leadership in emergency operations and training.

 

Chief Garner holds an Associate’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, a Bachelor’s Degree in Disaster and Emergency Management, and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership. He is a graduate of the Certified Public Manager® program through the University of Georgia and has earned the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) credential from the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs.

 

Further underscoring his dedication to excellence in fire service leadership, Chief Garner has achieved the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) and Chief Training Officer (CTO) designations from the Center for Public Safety Excellence. He also holds Pro Board certifications in all levels of Fire Officer and Fire Instructor, reflecting a deep commitment to training, education, and operational readiness.
