Fire Chief
Joe Doss, Fire Chief for the City of Covington Fire Department, has proudly served the City of Covington since 1998. He began his career as a Firefighter and steadily progressed through the ranks—serving as Engineer, Lieutenant, Assistant Fire Marshal, Deputy Chief Fire Marshal, and ultimately being appointed Fire Chief.
Chief Doss was drawn to the fire service from a young age, inspired by his father’s 27-year career as a Firefighter with the City of Atlanta. His family has called Newton County home since 1987, and he has proudly made Covington both his personal and professional home.
Married to his high school sweetheart since 1996, Chief Doss is a devoted husband and father to two daughters. His deep roots in the community and lifelong passion for the fire service fuel his commitment to the department. He is honored to lead the men and women of Covington Fire and looks forward to the continued growth and progress of the department in the years ahead.
